Authorities in Georgia are looking for a man they say dropped off a woman at a hospital in Augusta — after she was already dead — and then left the scene.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says 47-year-old Michael Lee Harrelson is wanted for questioning “in reference to a suspicious death” reported on Monday, Jan. 19.
An incident report obtained by local station WRDW states Harrelson drove to Doctors Hospital and told staff he needed help. A nurse followed him outside to a vehicle, where a woman was seated in the passenger seat, slumped over and not breathing, the report said.
After the woman was carried into the hospital, Harrelson allegedly fled, according to WRDW.
Hospital officials later identified the woman as 41-year-old Selena Johnson of Hephzibah, Georgia — about 16 miles outside Augusta.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office said Johnson was identified using fingerprints, per WRDW. Investigators have not publicly said how Harrelson and Johnson knew each other.
The coroner’s office told WRDW and WJBF that Johnson was pronounced dead at 10:50 p.m. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause and manner of her death.

Officials also said Harrelson has active warrants from unrelated cases. Authorities are asking for the public’s help locating him.
Harrelson has not been charged with any crime connected to Johnson’s death, according to court records.
He is described as 5’6″ and 153 pounds, with a bald head and brown eyes.
