Taylor Swift is said to be trying to keep a low profile after private text messages between her and Blake Lively became public as part of Lively’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios.
Correspondence between Swift, 36, and Lively, 38, was partially unsealed on Tuesday, Jan. 20, in connection with the ongoing dispute involving Baldoni, 41, and his studio. A source says Swift is unsettled by the release.
“Taylor feels like her privacy was impacted. Anyone would be uncomfortable if their private texts were suddenly made public,” the source says.
Swift was among several well-known names whose messages appeared in the unsealed court documents tied to the case. The filings also reference communications involving Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana, as well as Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, in conversations about Baldoni and It Ends With Us.
Last December, Lively sued Baldoni — her It Ends With Us costar and director — along with Wayfarer Studios and some of Baldoni’s associates. She alleged sexual harassment and a retaliatory smear campagin after she spoke up. Baldoni later countersued Lively and Reynolds for defamation and extortion, but that suit was dismissed.

Baldoni’s attorneys are pushing to have the case thrown out before trial, which is scheduled to begin in May. Ahead of a summary judgment hearing on Thursday, Jan. 22, they submitted a large batch of filings that included messages between Lively, Reynolds, and their famous friends.
Portions of the unsealed texts show Swift and Lively discussing Baldoni and the circumstances surrounding It Ends With Us.
In one exchange cited by Baldoni’s legal team, Lively asked Swift to endorse a revised version of the film’s script that Lively was proposing “even without having read it,” the filing alleges.
According to the filing, Swift responded, “I’ll do anything for you !!”
Lively’s attorneys argued the released messages lack key context, pointing to Lively’s deposition, where she said she “sent Taylor the script on her way to my apartment because Justin was still there, and I asked her to read them. I told her she didn’t have to, I didn’t want her to feel pressured to do that, but I hoped that she would.”

Swift was allegedly on her way to visit Lively when Baldoni was at Lively’s home. After the visit, Lively allegedly texted Swift that she was “so epically heroic today” and that she “recapped every moment” to Reynolds.
The filings also include messages in which Lively allegedly described Baldoni as a “clown” and a “doofus,” while Swift allegedly referred to him as a “bitch.”
The source says Swift “was just being a friend to Blake, and it’s turned into something bigger than she ever expected. She never thought private messages would become public.”
Now, the source adds, “Taylor is just trying to stay away from the drama.”
A representative for Swift did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Swift — whose song “My Tears Ricochet” is featured in It Ends With Us — is not a party to the lawsuit, but her name has repeatedly surfaced in connection with the case. Lively previously referred to Swift as one of her “dragons” in an alleged text exchange, according to a complaint filed by Baldoni in January 2025. That complaint claimed Swift pressured him to accept Lively’s rewrites.
In May, Baldoni’s attorneys attempted to subpoena Swift — a move Swift’s representative criticized, saying it was intended to generate “tabloid clickbait.”
Around the same time, a source said Lively and Swift’s friendship had “halted.”
Lively and Swift have been friends since 2015, after Lively shared a photo from a L’Oréal campaign that referenced Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video. Swift noticed it, and the two began spending time together.
