Newly released files connected to convicted *** offender Jeffrey Epstein include videos that viewers online describe as deeply disturbing, including clips in which Epstein appears to chase young girls around a kitchen.
On January 30, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) released a large tranche of material tied to the Epstein investigation, including millions of pages of documents, thousands of videos, and a substantial number of images.
Videos circulate online, fueling outrage and speculation
One video shared widely on social media shows Epstein moving quickly around a kitchen as he appears to pursue girls whose faces are redacted. The footage has prompted strong reactions online.
An X user, @SnowLeopard9224, wrote that the clip is “predatory and disgusting,” arguing that its existence is alarming regardless of how it is described.
Another video circulating from the same release shows Epstein dancing with a girl whose face is also redacted. Her age is not confirmed in the material referenced, but the clip has led to intense online speculation. Some users have posted angry questions about how girls ended up in Epstein’s presence and where adults responsible for them were.
At the same time, the files cited publicly do not include an official record in the referenced materials confirming the girl’s age in the dance video.
Redactions questioned as survivors’ advocates raise alarm
DOJ reporting and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche have indicated the released videos were heavily redacted to remove depictions of women other than Ghislaine Maxwell, and that any content involving minors or abuse was excluded as required by law to protect victims.
However, survivors’ attorney Brad Edwards has said the January 30 release included identifying information that could expose victims. Survivors have also issued a joint statement criticizing the release as “transparency” in name only, arguing that it risks revealing survivors’ identities while leaving perpetrators protected.
Online, some users additionally pointed to apparent inconsistencies in the redaction process. In the kitchen video, a commenter claimed the redaction briefly appears to fail, leaving a blurred view of the girls visible, and criticized the quality of the redaction tools used.
