Four days after Nancy Guthrie disappeared, Today host Savannah Guthrie has issued an emotional public message directed at whoever may be holding her mother.
On Wednesday, Feb. 4, Guthrie, 54, posted a video on Instagram featuring herself alongside her sister Annie and brother Camron. The post was captioned: “Bring her home.”
In the video, Savannah addressed reports circulating about an alleged ransom letter and said the family is willing to communicate—but needs proof.
“We too have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media,” she said. “As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen. Please, reach out to us.”
Savannah called her mother “our heart and our home,” then stressed the urgency of Nancy’s health needs.
“She is 84 years old,” Savannah said. “Her health, her heart is fragile. She lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive. She needs it not to suffer.”
She also described Nancy as deeply loved by her family and community, and thanked supporters for their prayers.
“On behalf of our family, we want to thank all of you for the prayers for our beloved mom, Nancy,” she said. “We feel them and we continue to believe that she feels them too.”
Savannah went on to describe Nancy as a “kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman,” adding that she is “funny, spunky, and clever,” with grandchildren who adore her. “Talk to her and you’ll see,” she said.
Turning directly to her mother, Savannah added: “Mommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman… Everyone is looking for you mommy, everywhere. We will not rest. Your children will not rest until we are together again… We love you.”
Annie also spoke in the video, describing the family’s grief and how central Nancy is to their lives.
“The light is missing from our lives,” she said. “Nancy is our mother… She is our beacon… Mama, mama, if you’re listening, we need you to come home. We miss you.”
Camron closed the message simply: “We love you mama. Stay strong.”

What authorities have said so far
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her home in Arizona at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, prompting an urgent search. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) said she was last seen by family members around 9:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, Jan. 31.
Savannah’s first public statement about the disappearance was shared by her Today colleagues on Monday, Feb. 2, as she was absent from the broadcast.
“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support,” the statement said. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.”
That same day, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos provided an update on the investigation, saying the family is devastated and leaning on one another. He also indicated investigators believe Nancy was taken “against her will.”
At a Feb. 2 press conference, Nanos said Nancy’s home is being treated as a crime scene and urged anyone with information to contact authorities.
“We don’t need another bad, tragic ending,” he said. “We need some help.”
He also warned that Nancy’s medical condition makes time critical, noting she needs medication and that going without it could be dangerous.
Family continues to lean on faith
Later on Feb. 2, Savannah posted again on Instagram, asking for prayers and thanking those who have supported the family. She wrote about believing in “voices raised in unison” and quoted Isaiah 26:3, ending again with the plea: “Bring her home.”
On Tuesday, Feb. 3, NBC confirmed that Savannah will no longer be covering the 2026 Olympics as she focuses on her family during the search.
Savannah had been scheduled to co-host the Opening Ceremony in Milan, Italy, on Friday, Feb. 6, alongside Terry Gannon with commentary from snowboarder Shaun White.
Sources close to the situation have said Savannah and her mother are extremely close.
