A teenage boy has suffered serious injuries after being bitten by a suspected Great White shark at a beach in New South Wales

A teenage boy has been seriously injured in a suspected great white shark attack at Cabarita Beach, a well-known coastal spot in New South Wales often visited by I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

Emergency services were called to the beach — located between Tweed Heads and Byron Bay — at around 3:50 p.m. on Sunday. Witnesses say surfers and two off-duty paramedics quickly rushed to the teen’s aid, using a tourniquet to help stem heavy bleeding.

The boy sustained serious injuries to his arms and hands and was flown to Gold Coast University Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. He remains in “serious but stable” condition.

Ant and Dec’s Favorite Beach Shaken by Attack

Cabarita Beach is a frequent retreat for ITV hosts Ant and Dec during their time filming in Australia. The duo are often spotted swimming with family or dining at local cafés in the area.

Shark attacks are rare in New South Wales, with just three confirmed fatalities since 2021. However, this latest incident comes only weeks after a tragic shark attack claimed the life of 17-year-old Charlize Zmuda at Bribie Island, north of Brisbane.

Tragedy Strikes Again

In Charlize’s case, emergency crews rushed to the scene after she was attacked while swimming. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to severe upper-body injuries.

Her family later released a touching tribute, saying: “Charlize was loved by many and was such a shining light who truly touched the lives of everyone she met. We want to remember the incredible life she lived—not the awful way she died.”

Eyewitness Chris Potter told The Courier Mail that people initially believed she was simply caught in a rip current. “It was shocking,” he said.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the species of shark involved in Sunday’s incident, but caution remains high as officials monitor beach conditions and public safety.
