A shocking video captured on Christmas Eve 2022 shows carer Bilikesu Olagunju, 42, violently mistreating frail 88‑year‑old dementia patient John Attard in his son’s home in Bexley, Kent.

During a 45‑minute ordeal, Olagunju yanks Attard from his armchair like a “rag doll,” strips him naked, and drags him across the living room. She also threatens him verbally and deliberately pours marmalade into his coffee despite knowing he was diabetic .

Despite repeated pleas of “You’re hurting me,” Olagunju ignored his distress and continued the abuse. The next morning, Attard was found unresponsive and sent to hospital. He never recovered, dying ten days later .

His son Chris, who installed the CCTV, told Woolwich Crown Court it was “horrific” to see his father’s pain—as Olagunju “physically tried to lift him like a rag doll” . Prosecutor James Benson described her behaviour as “rough handling, verbal aggression, and degrading treatment” .

Olagunju, employed by Unique Personnel Ltd, pleaded guilty to ill-treatment of a vulnerable adult and received a six‑week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, plus 50 hours of community service . Judge Welsh criticised the lack of proper training, stating it was “unbelievable” she was assigned to a dementia patient as her first client .

Chris called the sentence “an insult” and is pushing for the care company to be held accountable to prevent such tragedies from happening again .
