A Rock County judge has set a $1 million cash bond for a Beloit woman accused of fatally stabbing her 14-year-old daughter. The suspect, 41-year-old Tyiece Oninski, reportedly told authorities she committed the murder to “protect” the child from billionaire Elon Musk.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the investigation began on Friday, March 20, when Oninski placed a 13-minute call to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office’s non-emergency line. During the recorded exchange, Oninski allegedly admitted to killing her daughter, identified by family as Kuren Rein, the previous evening.

When dispatchers asked if the teen required medical assistance, Oninski reportedly replied, “She’s dead, honey. She needs a hearse.”

Beloit officers arriving at the residence found the 14-year-old face down in a pool of blood within a four-season porch used as a bedroom. Investigators noted the victim sustained fatal wounds to her neck and wrist but showed no signs of defensive injuries, suggesting she may have been caught off guard. A black pocket knife and leather sheath were recovered at the scene.

Oninski told investigators she killed her daughter to shield her from Elon Musk, though she offered no explanation for the perceived threat or any evidence of a connection to the tech mogul.

The criminal complaint further details Oninski’s behavior following the incident:

  • Suicide Attempt: Oninski allegedly stabbed herself in the chest and neck after the attack but survived.
  • Toxicology: Blood tests revealed the presence of benzodiazepines, amphetamines, and THC in her system.
  • Search for Notoriety: Upon arriving at the hospital, Oninski reportedly asked staff, “So is my name like, all over the news yet?” Expressing disappointment when told it was not.

The victim’s grandfather, who owns the home, told police he was asleep during the attack and believed his granddaughter had already left for school.

Oninski now faces one count of first-degree intentional homicide. She remains in the Rock County Jail pending her next court appearance on April 14.

The Beloit community has since rallied around the victim’s surviving brother. A GoFundMe campaign established to cover funeral costs describes Kuren Rein as a “beautiful life taken far too soon.”

“Our hearts are shattered,” the fundraiser states. “No one should have to face something like this… her life mattered, and she deserves to be honored with dignity.”

The Rock County Public Defender’s office has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the allegations or Oninski’s mental competency.
