A 29-year-old Arizona man faces two counts of first-degree murder after allegedly killing his parents in their Peoria home, claiming the attack was sparked by resentment over his psychiatric medication.

The Peoria Police Department identified the suspect as Jonathan A. Turk. Authorities took Turk into custody without incident on the evening of March 31, shortly after the suspect placed a 911 call to report the fatalities himself.

Upon arriving at the residence just after 6 p.m., officers discovered the bodies of Fraser Turk, 63, and Tina Turk, 56. According to court documents, Jonathan Turk admitted to investigators that he utilized a hammer and a knife to carry out the killings. He reportedly stated his actions were driven by anger toward his parents for “putting him on medication.”

Forensic evidence recovered at the scene aligns with these admissions. Investigators found the alleged weapons discarded in a trash can inside the home. Medical examiner reports indicate Fraser Turk suffered at least one stab wound, while Tina Turk sustained severe head trauma.

The investigation into the Turk household reveals a long-standing struggle with mental health intervention. Records obtained by local media outlets indicate that Fraser and Tina Turk had filed numerous mental health petitions for their son over several years.

Notably, three petitions were filed in 2026 alone. While federal medical privacy laws prevent the disclosure of the outcome of those filings, the frequency of the petitions underscores a escalating domestic crisis. This history is further complicated by a May 2023 incident in which police issued a missing persons report for Jonathan Turk; he was later located unharmed.

Jonathan Turk is currently held at the Maricopa County Jail on a $2 million cash bond. It remains unclear if he has retained legal counsel or entered an official plea.

The Peoria Police Department has classified the double homicide as an isolated incident, emphasizing that there is no ongoing threat to the public. As the investigation continues, the case highlights the often-volatile intersection of domestic safety and the limitations of mental health legal frameworks.
