A 17-year-old girl faces murder charges in the stabbing death of her boyfriend after investigators discovered a series of disturbing social media videos allegedly showing her threatening the victim with knives prior to the fatal encounter.
The Harrisburg Bureau of Police arrested Dalaysia Terrell-Brown, 17, in connection with the April 6 homicide of 18-year-old Tamar Shaw. Terrell-Brown is charged with murder, possession of an instrument of a crime, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, a tip led investigators to Terrell-Brown’s Instagram account, which featured multiple videos documenting domestic hostility. In one video, a hand holding a knife—matching the weapon recovered at the scene—appears to attempt to stab Shaw. The footage was captioned, “lmaoo cut that wrist up.”
A second video allegedly shows Terrell-Brown pointing a knife at Shaw while issuing warnings to other women, stating that “Shaw ain’t gonna do s–t.” A third clip reportedly depicts the suspect throwing a serrated knife at the victim’s neck.
Police responded to an apartment in the 1400 block of Market Street on April 6 following reports of a male suffering from severe blood loss. Officers discovered Shaw with a “laceration or puncture wound” to the left side of his chest.
Shaw was unable to speak as he struggled to breathe; he later died at a local hospital. The Dauphin County Coroner’s Office officially ruled the death a homicide, noting that the fatal wound entered the chest cavity and “would require significant force.”
During police questioning, Terrell-Brown provided a version of events that investigators found inconsistent with the physical evidence. She claimed she and Shaw were in bed when he requested a knife to prepare materials for a blunt.
Terrell-Brown told authorities she did not witness the moment Shaw was injured, alleging that blood began “spurting” only after she moved the blankets. While she admitted the couple had argued earlier that day, she maintained the atmosphere was calm at the time of the stabbing.
Terrell-Brown is currently held at the Dauphin County Prison after being denied bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 20.
The investigation remains active as authorities finalize the digital forensic analysis of the suspect’s social media activity and mobile devices.
