A tragic plane crash in North Carolina claimed the lives of a family of four on Monday, July 7. The small aircraft, a Cirrus SR22T, went down in a field in Lee County near the Raleigh Executive Jetport around 2 p.m., according to ABC 11 News.

On board were 35-year-old Travis Buchanan, his wife Candace, also 35, and their two young children — 10-year-old Aubrey and 9-year-old Walker. The family had reportedly been returning home from a beach vacation. Authorities confirmed that all four victims were from the same household, and no one else was aboard.

Crash Details

The wreckage was found in a field between Wallace Creek Lane and Riddle Road. Three of the passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, while the fourth was rushed to UNC Hospital but later succumbed to their injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No weather warnings were in effect at the time, and early reports suggest the aircraft was not being directed by air traffic control.
