Fresh concerns over President Donald Trump’s health are circulating after a series of public appearances revealed visible swelling and a persistent bruise—raising questions about his well-being heading into the 2025 election cycle.
Over the weekend, Trump was seen attending the FIFA Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey with First Lady Melania Trump. While seated, observers noted a swollen ankle and a dark bruise on the back of his right hand—markings that many say are not new.
“The same discoloration is still clearly visible on his hand in the War Room photo,” one source told Radar Online, pointing to earlier images showing the same bruise. “It’s an alarming sign—especially for someone with immense global responsibilities.”
The bruise reappeared again on Tuesday during a press interaction outside the White House. According to The Daily Beast, a C-SPAN feed captured what appeared to be the mark beneath a layer of concealing makeup.
Medical experts have also weighed in, suggesting ankle swelling in a man of Trump’s age—he turns 79 in June 2025—could signal circulatory issues or other underlying health concerns. A physician quoted in a recent report warned that ankle edema “should not be dismissed,” especially when recurring or combined with other symptoms.
This isn’t the first time the bruising has drawn attention. In official photos taken last month inside the White House War Room—where Trump stood alongside Vice President J.D. Vance, Senator Marco Rubio, and military officials after a strike on Iran—the same hand bruise was clearly visible. Similar markings were also seen during Trump’s December meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
When asked last year, Trump dismissed the injury as harmless. “It’s from shaking hands with thousands of people,” he told The Times.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt echoed that sentiment this week. “President Trump meets more Americans face-to-face than any president in history,” she said. “He’s committed, tireless, and doesn’t let small things slow him down.”
Still, speculation lingers. Past online chatter has even pointed to unexplained bulges under Trump’s clothing—leading some to question whether he uses a catheter or medical device. Though unproven, such rumors persist due to the lack of detailed health disclosures.
As the 2026 campaign season looms, Trump’s health is likely to remain under scrutiny—especially as visual cues continue to raise questions that official statements have yet to fully resolve.
