Elon Musk and Vice President JD Vance have sharply criticized the Wall Street Journal over its explosive report alleging that President Donald Trump once sent Jeffrey Epstein a sexually suggestive birthday letter.
The article, published earlier this week, claimed Trump had written Epstein a bawdy message on his 50th birthday, featuring typewritten text framed within the outline of a naked woman. The letter was reportedly signed with a squiggly “Donald” below the waist, mimicking pubic hair.
Trump Denies Authorship
President Trump denied ever writing such a letter in a statement to the Journal, calling the report “fake.”
“This is not me. This is a fake thing. It’s a fake Wall Street Journal story. I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women,” Trump said, adding that the language used didn’t match his own.
Vance: ‘Complete and Utter Bull****’
Vice President JD Vance took to X (formerly Twitter) to blast the Journal’s credibility, accusing the publication of running a smear piece without sufficient evidence.
“Forgive my language but this story is complete and utter bullshit. The WSJ should be ashamed for publishing it,” Vance wrote.
“Where is this letter? Would you be shocked to learn they never showed it to us before publishing it? Does anyone honestly believe this sounds like Donald Trump?”
Vance further questioned the journalistic ethics behind releasing the story:
“Doesn’t it violate some rule of journalistic ethics to publish a letter like this without showing it to the person it targets? Will the people who’ve believed every hoax against President Trump pause to question this bizarre tale?”
Musk, Loomer Echo Doubts
Elon Musk also cast doubt on the authenticity of the alleged letter, replying to political commentator Megyn Kelly with a brief dismissal:
“Yeah, the letter sounds bogus.”
Conservative activist and staunch Trump supporter Laura Loomer similarly rejected the story, pointing to Trump’s writing habits.
“I’m calling bullshit on this Trump ‘birthday letter’ to Epstein. It’s totally fake. Everyone who actually KNOWS President Trump knows he doesn’t type letters,” Loomer tweeted.
“He writes notes in big black Sharpie. Trust me, I would know. He doesn’t use email and he doesn’t typewrite.”
The Wall Street Journal has stood by its reporting. The controversy adds another layer of scrutiny to Trump’s past association with Epstein, a topic that continues to spark heated debate on both sides of the political aisle.
