President Donald Trump stirred fresh controversy Monday by posting an AI-generated video on Truth Social depicting former President Barack Obama being arrested by the FBI inside the White House. The clip, which features digitally manipulated content, ends with a visual of Obama in an orange prison jumpsuit behind bars.
The Video: “Especially the President Is Above the Law”?
The video opens with a clip of Obama appearing to say, “especially the President is above the law” — a doctored quote — followed by appearances from Joe Biden and other political figures asserting, “no one is above the law.” It then cuts to a fictional scene in the Oval Office where FBI agents arrest Obama, before concluding with the image of him jailed.
Trump shared the video without a disclaimer, captioning it: “No one is above the law.”
AI Post Follows Gabbard’s Explosive Claims
The timing of the post comes just days after Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard accused the Obama administration of manipulating intelligence regarding Russian interference in the 2016 election. Gabbard claimed in a recent release that 114 pages of redacted documents revealed that Obama’s national security team “faked and politicized intelligence” to damage Trump’s presidency.
Gabbard argued:
“Every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law… The integrity of our democratic republic depends on it.”
She added that all relevant materials were being handed to the Department of Justice for potential criminal referral.
Trump praised Gabbard’s effort on social media, writing:
“Congratulations to Tulsi Gabbard. Keep it coming!!!”
Social Media Explodes: “Will Obama Be Arrested?”
The AI video quickly went viral, triggering a wave of debate and speculation online. While many users called the video misleading and dangerous, others began asking whether Obama could actually be arrested in light of Gabbard’s claims.
“Arrest Obama is trending? You guys think Obama will actually be arrested?” one user posted on X.
“Is this real life? Is there a chance Obama will be arrested?” asked another.
Official Silence and Legal Gray Areas
So far, no criminal charges have been brought against Obama or any members of his former administration. The DOJ has not responded publicly to Gabbard’s document release or Trump’s viral AI post.
While the video is clearly digitally altered, critics warn it blurs the line between satire and disinformation, especially when shared by a sitting president without context.
The White House has not issued further comment as of Monday morning.
