A tragic accident has shaken the family of reality TV star Duane “Dog” Chapman. His stepson, Gregory Zecca, is reported to have accidentally shot and killed his 13-year-old son, Anthony, in a Florida apartment on Saturday, July 19.

According to law enforcement and TMZ, officers responded to a call about a shooting around 8 p.m. at an apartment in Naples, Florida. Authorities described the fatal incident as “isolated” and confirmed no arrests have been made at this time.

Chapman, 72, and his wife Francie Chapman — who is Zecca’s mother — issued a statement through a representative saying, “We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible, tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we mourn the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.”

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office and representatives for the family have not yet responded to additional media inquiries as of Sunday, July 20.

Zecca is Francie’s son from a previous marriage. She and Dog the Bounty Hunter wed in 2021 after forming a connection through the shared loss of their late spouses. Zecca reportedly works alongside Dog on his bounty hunting team.

Dog the Bounty Hunter, known for his long-running reality TV career, is a father to 13 children. In 2023, he revealed the recent discovery of another son, bringing the total to 14. His blended family includes children from multiple marriages, some of whom have passed away.
