President Donald Trump on Tuesday brushed aside renewed interest in the Jeffrey Epstein case, calling it a “witch hunt” and a “distraction,” while urging the media to focus on alleged corruption among Democrats.

Speaking to reporters at the White House following a meeting with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Trump responded sharply when asked about Epstein-related developments.

“You ought to take a look at that [Democratic corruption] and stop talking about nonsense,” Trump said, dismissing the Epstein discussion as “ridiculous.”

Justice Department Prepares to Speak With Ghislaine Maxwell

Trump’s comments came on the same day that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed the Justice Department plans to speak with Epstein’s longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence.

“If Ghislaine Maxwell has credible information about anyone involved in crimes against victims, the DOJ and FBI are prepared to listen,” Blanche said, adding that discussions are ongoing with her attorneys to assess her willingness to cooperate.

Maxwell’s lawyer, David Oscar Marcus, confirmed the communication and said, “Ghislaine will always testify truthfully.” He also welcomed Trump’s stated interest in uncovering the full truth of the case.

Trump Rips Media Coverage, Slams Wall Street Journal and New York Times

Trump also lashed out at mainstream media outlets, accusing them of pushing “hoaxes” and “witch hunts” related to Epstein. He specifically targeted the Wall Street Journal and its parent company, News Corp, both of which he is suing for defamation over reports that linked him to Epstein.

“This is all a distraction. They’re scared of what’s coming. They know we’re going to win, and they’re panicking,” Trump declared.

When pressed about the DOJ’s move to interview Maxwell, Trump downplayed the matter, saying, “I don’t know anything about it. It sounds like something appropriate to do, but I don’t really follow it. It’s kind of a witch hunt.”

Trump has previously denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein and has frequently criticized media coverage of the issue, claiming it is politically motivated.
