Television icon Judge Judy Sheindlin is back with a brand-new series titled “Justice on Trial,” premiering on Prime Video. Now 82, Judge Judy continues her decades-long career on screen with a show that delves into eight landmark court cases that shaped U.S. laws and affected the lives of over 340 million Americans.

Judy Sheindlin, best known for her no-nonsense approach on the long-running courtroom series Judge Judy, says the new show aims to make viewers “a little smarter.” All episodes of Justice on Trial will be available to stream starting Monday, July 21, and notably, the series was both created and produced by Judge Judy herself.

A Legacy That Keeps Growing

After Judge Judy ended in 2021, Sheindlin launched Judy Justice on Amazon Freevee, which has already completed three seasons. Her latest venture, Justice on Trial, builds on her reputation as one of America’s most influential legal TV personalities.

Judge Judy’s Net Worth and Career Milestones

Judge Judy’s estimated net worth is $440 million, making her one of the wealthiest figures in television. In 2018, Forbes ranked her as the highest-paid TV host in the world, thanks to her $47 million annual paycheck from Judge Judy and her deal with CBS, which included a $100 million sale of her show’s library.

Aside from Judge Judy, she also created and produced Hot Bench, another courtroom reality series.

Her Journey From Courtroom to Camera

Born Judith Sheindlin, she began her legal career as a corporate lawyer, eventually switching paths to raise her children. She became a family court prosecutor in 1972, and in 1982, then-Mayor Ed Koch appointed her as a criminal court judge. Four years later, she was promoted to supervising judge of Manhattan Family Court.

Judge Judy holds a law degree from New York Law School, earned in 1965.

On Her Salary: “You Can’t Make the Show Without Me”

Reflecting on her high earnings, Judy famously told her employers that her salary was justified:

“I can take Judge Judy anywhere. You can’t make the show without me.”

With Justice on Trial, Judge Judy proves once again that her presence on TV remains as sharp and relevant as ever.
