Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s high-profile deal with Netflix is coming to an end — and won’t be renewed, according to reports.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed the estimated $100 million partnership with the streaming giant in 2020, aiming to produce a slate of documentaries, series, and other content under their Archewell Productions banner. But as the agreement nears its September expiration, sources confirm it will not be extended.
A Hollywood insider told PEOPLE that the decision reflects a strategic shift for Netflix, which has been moving away from massive multi-year deals. “There’s no animosity from either side,” a source told The Sun. “Things have just run their course.”
Reps for Netflix and the royal couple declined to comment.

Though the overall deal is ending, that doesn’t mean the relationship is over. Meghan’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan is returning for a second season this fall, and her lifestyle brand As Ever, developed in partnership with Netflix’s consumer products division, remains active with more launches planned.
The first season of With Love, Meghan, which debuted in March 2025, garnered mixed results. According to Netflix’s mid-year Engagement Report, it earned 5.3 million views and ranked No. 383 on the platform. A week after its release, it landed in Netflix’s global Top 10 with 2.6 million views and over 12 million hours watched. The Duchess of Sussex hosts and executive produces the series, which blends cooking, entertaining tips, and candid chats with celebrity guests like Mindy Kaling and, soon, Chrissy Teigen.

Another project from the couple, Polo, released in December 2024, saw significantly lower engagement, drawing just 500,000 views and placing far lower on Netflix’s performance charts.
Despite these mixed numbers, Harry and Meghan’s debut docuseries Harry & Meghan remains Netflix’s most-watched documentary launch of all time — a success that gave the company a strong return early in the partnership. “They got those initial hits,” a source told The Sun, “and produced one of the most talked-about shows of all time.”
When the original Netflix deal was announced in 2020, the couple said their mission was to produce content that “informs but also gives hope,” with a focus on “courage, resilience, and the need for connection.”
Their evolving partnership mirrors a similar shift Netflix made with Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground production company, which transitioned from a multi-year agreement to a first-look deal.
Season two of With Love, Meghan has already been filmed and will be directed again by Michael Steed. It’s expected to premiere this fall, continuing Meghan’s foray into lifestyle and branded media — even without the backing of a formal Netflix contract.
As of now, there are no indications that Harry and Meghan plan to pursue a new exclusive streaming deal elsewhere.
