Authorities in New Jersey have charged a 20-year-old woman after she allegedly stabbed her 2-year-old brother in the chest.
On Saturday, Nov. 1, around 2:30 p.m., Brick Township police responded to a 911 call and found the young boy suffering from a stab wound, according to a statement from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. The child was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
The boy’s sister, identified as Marlene Rodriguez, of Brick Township, was later taken into custody. She is currently being held without bail at the Ocean County Jail, per online jail records.
Rodriguez faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities have not indicated whether Rodriguez has secured legal representation to comment on her behalf.
