A Florida woman turned her own birthday celebration into an unforgettable family moment by hiding a life-changing message on her cake.
Rachel Miller and her husband Ben, both 31, found out in December 2024 that they were expecting their first child. When it came time to share the news, Rachel — a producer, director, and avid video creator — wanted the reveal to be something special and worth capturing on camera.
“We wanted to tell the parents in a special way, but couldn’t figure out the best way to do it. And so I decided, my birthday’s coming up, so nobody would expect it if we turned my birthday into the announcement,” Rachel told PEOPLE.
The Orlando-based couple visited a Publix grocery store and asked an employee to write “We’re Pregnant” on a cake. Rachel then hid the dessert in the back of the fridge so no one would notice. To make the surprise even more convincing, she pretended to sip from an empty seltzer can, hoping to fool her mother-in-law into thinking she was drinking alcohol.
When the moment came, Ben carried the cake into the room and placed it on the table. At first, no one seemed to notice the red frosting message — but once they read it, the mood shifted instantly to shock and joy.
Rachel said her loved ones were “happy and grateful” after the reveal. “They knew we were trying, but they didn’t want to ask every time they came over,” she shared. She admitted she was shaking and sweating moments before the big reveal.
Their son, Camden, was born on April 24. His name carries a special connection to one of the couple’s favorite adventures — a 102-mile hike through England’s Cotswold Way, which began in the town of Chipping Campden. “We loved that trip, and we think about it all the time,” Rachel said. “As soon as we thought about it, we knew that was the name.”

These days, Camden “mostly just eats and sleeps,” Rachel joked, but she and Ben already dream of turning him into a traveler like them. They’ve recently visited Guatemala and hope one day to take their son to England to ride narrowboats along the canals.
Rachel said she’s especially enjoyed watching Ben as a father. “You don’t know you’re missing that part of your relationship until you become a parent, and then you see somebody you’ve been doing life with just love someone so much.”

The couple plans to continue documenting their life with Camden online, treating it like a living scrapbook for friends and family. Rachel, who previously shared videos about her pregnancy and experience with gestational diabetes, says her goal is “to be educational” rather than to become an influencer. “We’re just having fun and sharing that with the world,” she said.
