PITTSBURGH — Veteran NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not hold back on Wednesday, criticizing FBI Director Kash Patel for his presence during the U.S. men’s hockey team’s gold medal celebrations at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.

Speaking during his weekly guest appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on March 4, the 42-year-old Pittsburgh Steelers signal-caller questioned the optics of the nation’s top law enforcement official partying in a locker room while critical government work remains.

“Can we get that one guy out of the locker room though and get him working on something else?” Rodgers mused to McAfee. “That’s a bad look. Come on, have some awareness.”

The Viral Gold Medal Celebration

The controversy stems from footage circulated on social media following Team USA’s historic victory over Canada on February 22. In the videos, Patel, 46, was seen chugging beer, banging on tables, and singing along to Toby Keith’s “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” alongside players.

Patel has since defended his actions on X (formerly Twitter), stating he was “humbled” to be invited by the players and was in Italy for official security meetings. However, the display has drawn sharp rebukes from critics who argue the behavior is beneath the dignity of the FBI Directorship. Rodgers, known for his anti-establishment views, echoed these sentiments, suggesting Patel’s time would be better spent on high-profile investigations, specifically referencing the “Epstein files” during the broadcast.

Career Crossroads: The Steelers and Mike McCarthy

Beyond the political commentary, Rodgers provided a highly anticipated update on his NFL future. Currently a free agent after completing a one-year, $13.65 million contract with Pittsburgh, Rodgers is weighing whether to return for a 22nd season.

The Steelers recently hired Mike McCarthy—Rodgers’ former coach in Green Bay with whom he won Super Bowl XLV—to replace Mike Tomlin. While the reunion is a significant “draw,” Rodgers insisted no formal offer is on the table yet.

“There’s no contract offer or anything, so there’s nothing that I’m having to debate between,” Rodgers told McAfee. “I’m a free agent. I think there’s conversations to be had down the line, but right now, there hasn’t been any progressive conversations.”

Steelers General Manager Omar Khan indicated during the NFL Combine that the team hopes for a decision before the legal tampering period begins on March 9.

Life with ‘Brittani’ and Fitness Motivation

In a rare move, the four-time MVP also opened up about his private life with his wife, Brittani. The couple reportedly married in 2025, though Rodgers has gone to great lengths to keep her identity out of the spotlight to avoid the paparazzi-fueled drama of his past high-profile relationships.

“I knew that there was something crazy special about this,” Rodgers said of their meeting in 2017. “She’s just not a public person.”

When asked about his rigorous fitness regime at age 42, Rodgers offered a candid, albeit raunchy, motivation for staying in peak physical condition: “I wanna look good. I want my wife to wanna f— me all the time.”

What’s Next: The NFL’s “legal tampering” window opens on March 9, 2026. If Rodgers intends to lead McCarthy’s offense in Pittsburgh, a deal is expected to materialize before the official start of the new league year on March 11.
