Authorities widened their investigation this weekend into the disappearance of an 84-year-old Arizona woman after law enforcement searched a home belonging to one of her daughters, as officials continue to review messages claiming a ransom demand.

Investigators were seen late Saturday at the residence of the woman’s daughter and son-in-law, located several miles from the missing woman’s longtime home in Tucson. The search took place hours after the woman’s adult children released a video appeal addressed to whoever may be responsible for her disappearance. Officials have not said what prompted the search or whether any items seized are directly connected to the case.

The woman was reported missing in early February after she failed to attend church, prompting relatives to contact authorities. Law enforcement later said they believe she was taken from her home overnight at the end of January. No suspects or persons of interest have been publicly identified, and investigators have stressed that the inquiry remains active across multiple locations.

Over the weekend, deputies also returned to the missing woman’s home, where they were observed examining parts of the property as part of ongoing follow-up work. Officials have not disclosed what, if anything, those efforts uncovered.

Central to the investigation is an alleged ransom message sent to media outlets. Federal authorities previously said the sender outlined a payment demand with an initial deadline that has since passed, followed by a second date set for Feb. 9. Investigators have acknowledged receiving an additional communication that may be tied to the case and say they are assessing its authenticity.

In their public video statement, the woman’s children said they had received the latest message and pleaded for her safe return, expressing willingness to meet demands to bring her home. Authorities have neither confirmed nor denied any negotiations.

Law enforcement continues to urge anyone with information to come forward as the search and review of evidence proceed.
