An Arizona woman is facing serious charges after allegedly trying to cut her boyfriend’s throat on Thanksgiving.

Tamala Rudeseal, 52, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and aggravated assault in connection with the incident, ABC15 reported. The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office said in a statement that her case is “currently under review by our office.”

Rudeseal allegedly called 911 around 8 p.m. on Nov. 27 and told dispatchers she had slashed her boyfriend’s throat, AZFamily reported, citing court documents.

According to those documents, she reportedly said, “I did just try to murder you,” and, “Today is my Independence Day,” per AZFamily.

Officers responded to an apartment complex on South Country Club Drive in Mesa, where they detained Rudeseal and rushed her boyfriend to the hospital, Fox 10 reported.

According to 12 News, the victim had a cut on his neck running from his left ear to the center of his throat.

At the scene, investigators found a large folding hunting knife, 12 News reported.

During a police interview, Rudeseal allegedly told the victim, “I’m going to slice your [expletive] throat,” according to court documents cited by 12 News.

When officers asked if she had tried to kill her boyfriend, Rudeseal allegedly responded, “Yes. God, I hope he is dead; it’d be a favor to me, his wife, and his children,” per AZFamily.

She also allegedly claimed the victim didn’t “do anything around the house,” according to 12 News, citing court records.

The victim told officers that Rudeseal often became depressed around the holidays and that they had argued earlier in the day, 12 News reported.
