An Arkansas high school science teacher was arrested earlier this week after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend in the neck with an earring during a heated argument, authorities said.
Stephanie Woods, 43, was taken into custody on suspicion of domestic battery after police responded to a 911 call at a home in Paragould around 4:30 a.m. on Monday, according to a police report obtained by local affiliate KAIT.
Officers said Woods and her 37-year-old boyfriend had been arguing about her “talking about other men,” when the situation turned violent.
Officer Keaton Massey of the Paragould Police Department, who filed the report, said Woods picked up an earring and stabbed the man on the right side of his neck, just below his ear. The earring’s stud reportedly broke off and became lodged in his neck, though he declined medical treatment at the scene.
The boyfriend told officers the fight began over Woods’ conversations about other men. Woods, however, claimed she was “trying to put the earrings in his mouth” during the dispute.
Police arrested Woods at the scene. She was booked into the Greene County Detention Center and later released on a $5,000 bond.
According to KAIT, Woods is currently listed as a science teacher at Greene County Tech High School in Paragould.
