An arrest warrant has been issued for Fast & Furious star Tyrese Gibson following allegations that his dogs mauled a neighbor’s Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in Georgia.
On Sept. 18, police responded to a 911 call from Harrison Parker, who lives across the street from Gibson’s Buckhead mansion. Parker claimed that doorbell camera footage captured Gibson’s dogs shortly after the alleged attack, according to WSB-TV 2, 11Alive.com, and Fox5 Atlanta.
Parker said he let his dog into his yard, which was equipped with an invisible fence, and discovered his dog dead shortly after from the attack, police reports stated (WSB-TV 2).
Court documents allege that Parker’s 5-year-old dog, Henry, suffered internal bleeding and puncture wounds (WSB-TV 2).
“I found my dog dead in my driveway,” Parker told WSB-TV 2. “Not hearing him around, it’s just awful. He was one of the sweetest dogs and to have him get murdered is, it’s indescribable.”
Police executed a search warrant for Gibson and his dogs on Sept. 22, but the actor was not home, according to Fox5 Atlanta. Court documents indicate that Gibson had initially stated he would surrender his dogs to Animal Services, but authorities reported he was absent when they went to his home (11Alive).
Authorities allege that Gibson’s Cane Corso dogs attacked the smaller spaniel and were running loose in the neighborhood (Fox5 Atlanta; 11Alive).
“It is the negligence on his part as the homeowner and animal owner, just letting them roam free,” said Capt. Nicole Dwyer with Fulton County Police Animal Services. “And now they have killed an innocent animal.”
In response, Gibson’s attorney Gabe Banks said the actor has expressed condolences to his neighbor’s family and made the “difficult decision” to rehome his dogs.
“Mr. Tyrese Gibson extends his deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident that occurred while Mr. Gibson was away from his home,” Banks said. “Upon learning of this unfortunate accident, Mr. Gibson immediately made the difficult decision to rehome his dogs to a safe and loving environment.
“Concerning the misdemeanor warrant, Mr. Gibson is cooperating fully with authorities to address and resolve this matter responsibly. Mr. Gibson asks for privacy and understanding as this matter is handled through the appropriate legal channels, and as he remains committed to the safety of his community and the well-being of all animals.”
