The Obama family marked Thanksgiving with a warm new family photo shared on social media.
On Thursday, Nov. 27, Barack Obama posted a joint Instagram update with his wife Michelle Obama. In the picture, the former president, 64, stands beside Michelle, 61, with their daughters — Malia, 27, and Sasha, 24 — smiling at their sides.
“During this season of giving, let’s do what we can to give back to the communities that have given us so much,” Barack and Michelle wrote in the caption, adding, “From our family to yours, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!”
Michelle also reshared the photo on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Happy Thanksgiving!” along with a red heart emoji.
From 2009 to 2016, during Barack’s two terms in office, the Obamas traditionally celebrated Thanksgiving in Washington, D.C. For their final holiday in the White House, they released a festive menu that featured pizza bites and six different kinds of pie.
The spread also included mini BLTs, mini crab cakes, fresh vegetables with hummus, chicken satay with peanut chili dip, and pigs in a blanket as appetizers.
For the main course, guests enjoyed honey-baked ham with an apricot-mustard glaze, prime rib with creamed horseradish and shallot marmalade, fried chicken wings, and a thyme-roasted turkey carving station served with garlic jus and cranberry-orange relish.

Last month, Michelle and Barack celebrated 33 years of marriage with touching tributes to each other on social media.
“We’ve been on quite the journey over the last 33 years — and yet, I love you even more today than the day we said ‘I do,’ ” Michelle wrote alongside a photo of the couple dressed up and smiling at a formal event.
“Happy anniversary, @BarackObama! I’m so lucky to go through life with you. ❤️,” she added.
In his own post, Barack shared the same image and wrote, “The best decision I ever made was marrying you, @MichelleObama.”
“For 33 years, I’ve admired your strength, grace, and determination — and the fact that you look so good doing it all,” he said.
