Barron Trump, the 19-year-old son of President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, is taking a deeper look at his faith, according to a pastor who recently spoke about a late-night conversation with him.

On the Thursday, Dec. 4, episode of the Christian-oriented George Janko Show, Pastor Stuart Knechtle said he had a 12:30 a.m. phone call with Barron to talk specifically about the teenager’s beliefs.

“I thought I was hitting him with everything but the kitchen sink when it came to all the evidence for God and Christianity,” said Knechtle, a TikTok-famous pastor at Grace Community Church in Connecticut.

“I thought I was really on. I was pumped,” he continued, before suggesting that his arguments did not completely convince Barron.

Knechtle said one example that appeared to capture Barron’s attention was a story about a friend in Africa who he claims has seen thousands of Muslims convert to Christianity through dreams and revelations.

“How do you explain that?” Knechtle said he asked Barron. According to the pastor — who said he mimicked Barron’s voice and mannerisms while recounting the exchange — the president’s youngest son replied, “Oh, that’s a very, very interesting point. And you have eyewitness testimony.”

“You know the way his mind works,” Knechtle added. “That was the only thing that stuck with him.”

The pastor went on to say he believes the New York University sophomore is “very close to putting his faith in Christ.”

“I pray that goes through,” host George Janko said in response on the podcast.

“Yeah, exactly. That would be huge,” Knechtle replied.

Knechtle did not say when the call with Barron allegedly took place. Requests for additional information were directed to Knechtle and to the first lady’s office, which handles inquiries about Barron.

Barron is Melania Trump’s only child and the youngest of Donald Trump’s five children.

The president was confirmed into the Presbyterian Church as a child, reflecting his Scottish mother’s faith, but said in 2020 that he now considers himself a nondenominational Christian.

Melania, meanwhile, has been described by those around her as “quiet” about her beliefs but still religious, and she is the only first lady since Jackie Kennedy to publicly identify as Catholic.

Although Barron made more appearances in the final stretch of his father’s 2024 presidential campaign, he has largely stayed out of the public eye since the inauguration.

Ahead of his sophomore year at college, Barron transferred from New York University’s main campus in Manhattan to the university’s Washington, D.C., campus, located less than a mile from the White House. During a recent White House tour with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, Trump said that Barron was living in the private quarters of the Executive Residence.
