A New Hampshire mother who, according to authorities, killed her husband and two of their children before taking her own life had shared her struggles with depression on TikTok in the days leading up to the tragedy.
The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office confirmed that Emily Long, 34, used a firearm from her family’s Madbury home on Aug. 18, fatally shooting her husband, Ryan Long, 48, their son Parker, 8, and daughter Ryan, 6, before dying by suicide. A toddler inside the home was found unharmed.
According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, Ryan had been battling brain cancer prior to his death, a detail neighbors also noted.

On her now-private TikTok page, Emily described herself in her bio as a “Brain Cancer Wife.” She explained that her account served as her “personal diary” and added that posting was “cheaper than therapy.”
In her final video, she admitted she was in a “rut” and struggling with depression as the family faced mounting challenges. “I’m making a point to get out of my depression and do this for my family,” she said.
Authorities have cautioned against drawing conclusions about what led to the tragedy.
“While investigators are becoming aware of various concerns/issues ongoing in the household at the time of the event in question, people should avoid speculating that this event was caused by a single reason or stressor,” the attorney general’s office said.
Autopsy results confirmed that both children died from a single gunshot wound to the head. Ryan, a school psychologist, was shot multiple times. Emily, who worked in the restaurant industry, died from a single gunshot wound to the head, according to investigators.
