A 41-year-old Texas woman is facing a felony child abuse charge after police discovered her 11-year-old son allegedly covered in feces and severely underweight.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Harris County, Baytown police responded to a mobile home in May following an “urgent” welfare check request. Inside, officers found the boy — who reportedly weighed just 46 pounds — living in disturbing conditions.
The court filing states that the child, who has autism spectrum disorder and is nonverbal, had never attended school. The responding officer noted that the home smelled so strongly of feces that it was almost unbearable, with flies swarming and dried waste covering the floors.

Rachel Nicole Blaylock, the boy’s mother, allegedly told officers she had replaced her son’s bedroom door with a screen door and locked it to prevent him from leaving. The complaint describes the bedroom as “dirty,” with a “filthy” mattress smeared with fecal matter. The boy reportedly had dried feces on his body and beneath his fingernails.
When police urged Blaylock to seek medical attention for her son, she allegedly refused, saying, “I just can’t drop everything I’m f—— doing and take him to the hospital so a quack-a– doctor can say, ‘I don’t know what’s wrong with him,’ so we can see another one.”
The child’s grandmother told officers the boy was often locked in his room all day, and only Blaylock or her boyfriend could open the door. She claimed she couldn’t give the child food or water and described Blaylock as “not a good mom,” saying she frequently told her son to “shut up” and rarely cared for him.
The boy was taken to a nearby hospital, where medical staff diagnosed him with autism and severe malnutrition. Doctors also noted significant developmental and language delays, dental decay, and raised concerns about possible sexual abuse. His teeth were reportedly rotting, and his weight was nearly half the average for his age.
Blaylock has been charged with felony injury to a child with serious bodily injury. According to court records, she was also charged with possession of methamphetamine on Oct. 8 in an unrelated case. Her bond is set at $250,000.
