A maid of honor left wedding guests stunned after focusing her entire speech on the groom instead of the bride.
In a post on Reddit’s “Wedding Shaming” forum, a wedding worker shared how the bride’s sister, who was also her maid of honor, gave what they described as a “really cringe” toast.
“Me and a coworker looked at each other and said, ‘It seems that the bride’s sister wants the groom,’ ” the worker wrote. “I can only hope this obvious affection is one-sided on the sister’s part.”
The Redditor said suspicions were raised the moment the maid of honor took the microphone, since her speech focused solely on the groom.

“She immediately began to speak of the groom, which didn’t seem so weird at first, until she kept going and kept going,” the post continued. “At one point [she] described how much he supported her and made her feel loved and how she had realized at a certain point how much she loved him.”
Nearly five minutes later, she finally mentioned her sister, the bride — but the line wasn’t exactly reassuring.
“She said one thing about the bride and it was this: ‘You have always been a source of love in my life, and now…you’ve brought him into my life,’ ” the worker recalled.
According to them, the moment came across as “main character syndrome.”
Reddit users were quick to weigh in, with many suggesting the speech sounded more like a love “confession” than a wedding toast.
One person commented, “Oh boy,” while another predicted, “There’s going to be problems with this marriage!”
Others recommended that couples consider vetting wedding speeches ahead of time to avoid uncomfortable situations. “There are so many self-centered or clueless people out there,” one user noted, while another added: “People need to vet these speeches better OR be really discerning about who they let give speeches. The DJ, emcee, or coordinator should also step in if things get awkward so it doesn’t drag on.”
