During her wedding’s “first look” moment, one Texas bride got a surprise she never expected.
Allison, the bride, thought she was about to see her stepfather for the first time on her big day in Dickinson, Texas. But when she turned around, it was her brother, Wesley, standing there instead, according to USA Today.
Allison hadn’t seen Wesley for six months, ever since he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in North Carolina. He had asked for leave to attend the wedding but wasn’t granted it—or so Allison thought.
In a video of the reunion shared by USA Today, Allison was getting into position with help from her photographer when Wesley quietly stepped behind her. Just before she turned, he tapped her on the shoulder.
The moment she saw him, Allison burst into tears, overwhelmed with joy. Wesley hugged her tightly as family and friends laughed and cried nearby.
The video explained that Wesley had actually received “last-minute approval” to take leave so he could surprise his sister and make her wedding even more memorable.
After their emotional hug, Wesley wrapped his arm around Allison as they posed for photos and caught up. The video ended with the siblings happily standing together, reunited for the first time in half a year.
