Bridesmaid Drops Out of Wedding 1 Week Before Ceremony Over Dress Color Dispute

A bridesmaid has reportedly dropped out of her friend’s wedding just a week before the ceremony — all because she didn’t like the color of her dress.

According to a post shared on Reddit’s “Wedding Forum,” the bride’s cousin explained that the last-minute decision has left the bride anxious in the final stretch before her big day. “Bride is stressed but trying not to let it ruin the day,” the cousin wrote.

The bridesmaid who quit had already spent money on shoes, travel, and the pre-wedding celebration but decided to walk away regardless. Her reason? She refused to wear the dress shade the bride had chosen — a “pretty standard navy blue.”

What’s confusing, the post noted, is that the color had been picked out months earlier, with everyone agreeing to it at the time. Fittings were completed, dresses ordered, and everything seemed settled — until the bridesmaid suddenly backed out.

“Bride thought she was joking at first, but nope,” the cousin explained. “She returned the dress and announced she won’t be walking down the aisle. No family fight, no huge blowup, just a quiet exit … over the color.”

The bridesmaid reportedly said she “can’t be part of it” because navy isn’t her color and she felt it would “ruin the photos.”

In the comments, most Reddit users speculated that something deeper was going on. One top commenter wrote, “Obviously the color of the dress is just an excuse. For whatever reason this bridesmaid wants or needs to be out of the wedding party.”

Another agreed, saying, “This is it. Something much bigger going on,” while others echoed similar thoughts: “There’s zero chance that this is about the color of the dress. Either the bridesmaid isn’t telling the bride the real reason, or the bride isn’t telling you.”
