A woman thought she’d come down with a stomach virus — until she realized the real reason she was so sick.

Jade Geralds, 27, attended her cousin’s wedding as a bridesmaid on May 11, 2024, in Glasgow, Kentucky, with her husband, Jamison, 25. She says she felt “strange” that morning but assumed she was still well enough to make it through the day. By the next morning, she felt much worse.

“I couldn’t exactly put my finger on what felt off — I just knew I didn’t feel like myself,” Geralds recalls. “I went on the rest of the wedding day and was fine but still didn’t feel great. It wasn’t until the morning after the wedding that I woke up very, very sick!”

Worried she might have picked up — and spread — a stomach bug, Geralds sent a message to the other bridesmaids warning them to keep an eye out for symptoms. In a text shared later on TikTok, she wrote, “Just want to give you all a heads up in case you start not feeling good… I have been up since 5 throwing up.”

But it wasn’t a virus.

“Little did I know, there was no stomach virus,” she says. “Just my little man baking in my belly!”

Geralds found out she was pregnant a few days after the wedding — news she describes as an unforgettable surprise. “It was the best unexpected surprise ever,” she says, adding that she and her husband were thrilled. “After the shock was over and everyone knew, we were laughing about it.”

Her baby son, Drake, is now over a year old. Geralds describes him as “so much fun” and says he’s “so very loved.”

She later posted the story on TikTok, where it took off, drawing millions of views and hundreds of thousands of likes. In the comments, many people shared their own stories of thinking they were coming down with something — only to learn they were pregnant.

“When I posted the TikTok, I never imagined that it would go viral,” Geralds says. “I also never imagined so many other moms would relate to me. Reading through the comments to see everyone else’s similar stories has been fun. I’m glad I got to connect with so many others through my video.”
