Republican Congressman August Pfluger shared an emotional update this week, revealing that both of his daughters were safely evacuated from Camp Mystic, a historic girls’ summer camp devastated by catastrophic flooding in central Texas.

Pfluger’s daughters, Caroline and Juliana, were among the hundreds of campers rescued after severe flash floods struck Kerr County, rapidly overwhelming the Guadalupe River and submerging large portions of the 100-year-old camp in Hunt, Texas.

In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Pfluger expressed gratitude that his family had been reunited, while also mourning the tragedy unfolding for so many others.

“Camille, Vivian and I are now reunited with Caroline and Juliana who were evacuated from Camp Mystic. The last day has brought unimaginable grief to many families and we mourn with them, while still holding out hope for survivors,” he wrote.

He extended thanks to first responders, the Texas Division of Emergency Management, and federal agencies including FEMA and DHS, for their swift efforts in response to the disaster.

“Please join us today as we pray for miracles,” he added in a follow-up post, acknowledging the “countless heroes” who have risked their lives during the rescue operations.

According to Kerr County officials, at least 59 people have died as a result of the flooding, including 21 children. Fox News confirmed that five young girls from Camp Mystic were among the deceased, and 27 campers remained missing 36 hours after the initial floodwaters hit.

Roughly 750 girls were attending the camp at the time.

The disaster followed a night of intense rainfall — nearly a foot of precipitation — which caused the Guadalupe River to surge over 26 feet in less than an hour, catching residents and campers off guard.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott visited the flood zone on Saturday, where rescue crews continue to search for survivors. So far, nearly 850 people have been rescued from the affected region.
