An adventurous cat loved his visit to a U.K. pub so much that he made the journey more than 30 miles to return a second time after being brought back home.

Peanut, the cat, first surprised staff at the Vat & Fiddle taproom in Nottingham on July 9. He had vanished from the Lincolnshire home of his owners, Charley Rawlings and Sam Bharma, more than 30 miles away, according to the Daily Mail.

During his pub adventure, Peanut became a small social media star, showing up in posts from Vat & Fiddle. The staff at Castle Rock Brewery, which runs the taproom, tried to figure out who he belonged to while Peanut happily mingled with the regulars.

“Here is our new furry friend that has been visiting the pub in the past few weeks. Why don’t you come in and see if you can spot her about the pub?!” one post on the Vat and Fiddle’s Facebook page read. Photos showed Peanut getting comfortable with customers and even lounging around the bar.

Peanut, nicknamed “Screech” for his loud meow, clearly enjoyed himself. When online efforts didn’t reveal his owners, staff brought him to a vet. Thanks to his microchip, they were able to reach Rawlings and Bharma.

Rawlings told the Daily Mail that she feared the worst when the vet called but was thrilled to hear Peanut was safe.

“Staff at the vets said he had been staying at a brewery, so I just typed on Facebook ‘Nottingham cat brewery’ and all the posts they had been making came up!” she explained.

In the comments of one post, she happily confirmed Peanut’s identity:

“This is our lovely boy Peanut, thank you so much for helping us find him! He got to you all the way from Lincoln and he turned one whilst he was missing so at least he was able to spend his birthday in a pub like you’re suppose to. We are so happy to have him home after the month, thank you for looking after him.”

Castle Rock celebrated the reunion on Facebook, writing that Peanut had “completely stolen our hearts” and thanking him for being “part of the team – even if just for a little while.”

Back at home, Rawlings and Bharma tried putting a collar on Peanut, but he wasn’t a fan. What he was interested in, however, was returning to the pub.

Just weeks later, Peanut slipped away again — and showed up back at Vat & Fiddle. The brewery announced his return on Facebook:

“Some of you might remember Peanut — our furry visitor from Lincoln who even celebrated his first birthday at the Vat and Fiddle. Well… he made a surprise return to the brewery on Friday!”

The post joked that Peanut had come back to “cash in his loyalty points” before staff once again reunited him with his family.

Warehouse manager Simon Belshaw told Nottinghamshire Live that he actually heard Peanut before he saw him.

Rawlings admitted she’s still baffled about how Peanut managed the trip — not just once, but twice. “You hear of cats going missing and turning up miles from home – but not a cat doing it twice and to the same location,” she said.

When Peanut escaped the second time, his family took it more lightly. “We’ll know where he’ll be – back at the Vat and Fiddle,” they joked to the Daily Mail.

Taproom general manager Danny Storer said they were happy to host him again. “He is always very welcome,” Storer said, before joking, “But I’m not sure his parents are thrilled with his habit!”
