River Flood Warnings have been issued for parts of San Saba, Concho, and Colorado Rivers as rains triggered life-threatening flash flooding across Central Texas
Severe flooding continues to impact Central Texas, with River Flood Warnings now in effect for portions of the San Saba, Concho, and Colorado Rivers, as torrential rains hammer the region. The Guadalupe River has already surged past historic levels, causing significant flooding across Kerrville and surrounding areas in Kerr County.
The National Weather Service in San Angelo issued an urgent alert at 10:30 a.m. CDT on Friday, warning:
“River Flood Warnings have been issued for parts of the San Saba, Concho, and Colorado Rivers. Do not venture out today if you don’t have to. If you must travel, turn around if you encounter a flooded road.”
Guadalupe River Surges to Record Levels
- In Comfort, the Guadalupe River rose 22 feet in just 30 minutes—from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.—reaching 29.86 feet, a level well beyond flood stage.
- In Kerrville, water levels jumped 21.6 feet in one hour between 3:45 and 4:45 a.m., currently holding at 11.64 feet.
- Upstream in Hunt, the river has entered moderate flood stage, registering at 13.99 feet.
Authorities continue to urge residents to avoid all non-essential travel and remain alert for additional flash flood warnings, as saturated ground and swollen waterways increase the risk of further inundation. Emergency crews remain on high alert, with evacuation orders active in multiple flood-prone communities.
