MAGA supporters are being urged to speak out against one of their own who made shocking comments about a former Capitol Police officer.
Former Capitol Police Sgt. Aquilino Gonell, who resigned due to trauma from being attacked by Trump supporters during the January 6 Capitol riots, raised concerns over the weekend about a MAGA rioter being honored by the military.
“She was a traitor then, is a traitor now and she will always be in the future,” Gonell said, referring to rioter Ashli Babbitt.
Pardoned Jan. 6 rioter Ryan Nichols Sr. responded with, “So are you.”
“We should have went harder on you that day,” Nichols added.
Gonell fired back, saying, “This is coming from a guy claimed was innocent and asked the judge for leniency.”
Lawyer Mark S. Zaid commented, “This is the type of person Trump pardoned. He proudly asserts that they should have injured a US Capitol Police Officer worse than they did on January 6th.” Zaid also noted that Gonell “had to medically retire.”
“But MAGA supports law enforcement? Seriously? Then show me by condemning this guy,” Zaid added.
