Conor McGregor has broken his silence following accusations from rapper Azealia Banks that he sent her unsolicited explicit photos and threatened her to stay quiet. The Irish MMA fighter responded in an unexpected way—by posting, “Happy birthday to me!” on social media, prompting confusion and speculation among fans.
Banks went public with the allegations earlier this week by sharing screenshots of what she claims were private messages with McGregor, including graphic images allegedly sent without her consent. She accused the 37-year-old fighter of harassment and coercion.
“How you gonna send a b*h some crooked dk pics then threaten her not to tell? … This is HARAM,” Banks wrote in one of her posts on X, formerly Twitter.
In another post, she mocked McGregor’s rumored political aspirations, asking, “Ain’t u trying to be the president of Ireland?”
McGregor had remained silent as the controversy gained traction online, but his cryptic birthday post on July 14 was widely interpreted as a veiled response. While some followers saw it as sarcasm or deflection, others believed he was simply ignoring the controversy and choosing to celebrate his birthday.
Controversy Escalates
Banks claims McGregor not only sent the explicit content but later deleted the messages and unfollowed her on social media. So far, she has not announced any legal action against him.
The allegations add to a series of past accusations against McGregor. In 2021, he paid a €215,000 ($233,326) settlement to a woman who accused him of rape in Ireland. He also faces an ongoing case in the U.S., where a woman alleges he sexually assaulted her at the Kaseya Center in Miami.
Neither McGregor nor his legal team has publicly addressed Banks’ accusations in detail. As the backlash builds, observers are watching to see whether the incident results in further legal scrutiny—or is quietly swept aside.
