A Minnesota man has been found guilty of kidnapping and murdering a real estate agent after luring her to a home showing on New Year’s Eve.
Monique Baugh, 28, was abducted on Dec. 31, 2019, after arriving at a house in Maple Grove, Minn., for what she believed was a routine viewing.
Nearly six years later, a Hennepin County jury has convicted 40-year-old Lyndon Akeem Wiggins on multiple charges, including first-degree murder, according to a statement from the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said Wiggins, along with his co-defendant Elsa Segura, arranged the Maple Grove home showing to lure Baugh there, outlets including CBS News and KARE 11 reported.
When Baugh arrived, two men kidnapped her, forced her into a U-Haul, and later shot her. She was found dead in an alley with her hands bound in duct tape, KARE 11 reported.
Investigators say the attackers then drove the U-Haul to the home of Baugh’s boyfriend and shot him, according to CBS News.

He survived the attack and told authorities he could not see who shot him, but identified Wiggins as someone he believed had a motive to harm him, CBS News reported.
Wiggins was first convicted in Baugh’s murder in 2021. In 2024, the Minnesota Supreme Court overturned that conviction, citing improper jury instructions, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office said.
Two other defendants, Cedric Berry and Berry Davis, were also convicted in 2021 of aiding and abetting first-degree premeditated murder; aiding and abetting first-degree premeditated attempted murder; aiding and abetting kidnapping; and aiding and abetting first-degree murder while committing kidnapping, according to the attorney’s office.
Segura, who FOX 9 reports was dating Wiggins at the time, pleaded guilty in 2024 to kidnapping to commit great bodily harm, the attorney’s office said.
Berry and Davis were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, while Segura received a 240-month prison sentence.
After his second conviction, Wiggins is now seeking another trial. On the day he was to be sentenced, his attorney filed a motion requesting a new trial, FOX 9 reported.
