A Mississippi postal worker has sparked widespread criticism after admitting he withdrew thousands of dollars from his young son’s savings account to pay off his own credit card bills.
Christian, 28, from Biloxi, shared the revelation during the Oct. 29 episode of Financial Audit, a podcast hosted by financial advisor Caleb Hammer, where guests are examined on their personal finances with unfiltered honesty.
During the interview, Christian confessed that he charged several family vacations — including trips to Disney World and the Bahamas — to his credit cards. When faced with high interest rates, he decided to eliminate the debt by using his 4-year-old son’s savings account, which held between $8,000 and $10,000.

He admitted that much of the money had been gifted by friends and relatives for his son’s future, yet he justified his actions as an investment in “memories and experiences.”
“I figured I valued building memories with him and taking him on experiences — it was worth it,” Christian said, describing the withdrawal as “a zero-percent loan.”
He added, “He’s 3, 4 now. He won’t know,” but acknowledged that he planned to repay the money eventually — despite having already accumulated new credit card debt.
Christian also revealed that he made the decision without consulting his wife.
“She doesn’t approve. I didn’t ask for her permission before I did it,” he admitted, noting that his wife had recently rejoined the military to help pay down the family’s roughly $90,000 debt.
After the episode aired, online commenters reacted sharply to his confession.
“The way I GASPED when he said $8–10K in the kid’s account, and he took it all,” one viewer wrote.
“Like stealing candy from a baby — except you’re stealing from your literal baby,” another added.
Others reflected more personally:
“This man is scary. He has the same job as me, makes the same amount of money and has the same vice. The only difference is that I don’t have a wife and child. This video feels like a massive wake-up call.”

Some were even more blunt, with one commenter remarking sarcastically, “I’m glad he was able to take his son on those trips — since he’s probably gonna be losing custody in the divorce soon.”
