A 34-year-old father of three died after being struck and run over by heavy machinery at a construction site in Oklahoma.
Joshua Gunville-Quach was working at a site in northwest Oklahoma City on Thursday, Dec. 18, when he was run over by a skid steer, according to ABC affiliate KOCO-TV.
A skid steer is described by the University of Virginia as “a versatile piece of equipment used for construction and landscaping projects.”
In a statement shared on a GoFundMe page created to support his family, Joshua’s aunt, Katie Gunville, said he had gone to work to afford Christmas gifts for his children.
Gunville said she had spoken with her nephew shortly before he headed to the work site in the Northwest 196th Street area near North May Avenue.
“To get the news that he was gone was very, very shocking to me,” she said, according to KOCO-TV. “I had to tell our family. That was really hard.”
Joshua is survived by two daughters and a son, all under the age of 10.
Authorities have not released additional details about the incident.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
Nearly $1,000 had been raised through the GoFundMe campaign as of Monday, Dec. 22.
