A father of three was fatally shot following an alleged argument over a parking space at a Target store in Savannah, Georgia.

The Savannah Police Department said officers responded to a report of a shooting near the Target location on Sunday, Jan. 4. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Police identified the suspect as Tyler Linn, 30, who was arrested at the scene and charged with murder and aggravated assault. Authorities said Linn remained at the location following the incident. It is not immediately known whether he has entered a plea or retained legal counsel.

Local outlets WJCL and WTOC reported that the victim was Matthew Traywick, a father of three young children.

In a Facebook post, Savannah Mayor Van Johnson stated that the shooting stemmed from an “alleged argument over a parking dispute.”

“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the victim,” Johnson wrote. “No disagreement over a parking space, or anything else, should ever end in the loss of life.”

Traywick’s employer, Vaden Automotive, said the company was “heartbroken” by his death.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Traywick’s wife and children, raising more than $85,000 as of the latest update.

According to WSAV and WTOC, Linn is an Army veteran who served from 2015 to 2023.
