A viral video circulating on social media has ignited debate, claiming to show a UFO hovering over Dallas, Texas. The clip, posted by DramaAlert on X, was captioned, “SQUID SHAPED UFO SPOTTED OVER DALLAS, TEXAS.”
In the comments, skepticism was widespread. Several users suggested the footage may be AI-generated, while others floated alternative explanations. One person joked, “Bro that was my drone malfunctioned,” while another added, “Weird. They don’t sell that kind of fireworks in Texas.” Others simply remarked, “Ai af” and “Looks fake af.” Some viewers speculated about a government ruse, and one commenter claimed, “Since no one seems to be explaining this I will, it’s called the ‘Jelly fish / Twilight effect’ during a rocket launch.”
While this latest sighting hasn’t been confirmed, it adds to the growing number of UFO reports across the state. According to this tracker, Houston tops the list for the most UFO sightings in Texas since 1995, with 435 recorded incidents. Other cities such as Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, and El Paso have also reported high numbers of sightings.
Stacker previously examined America’s long-standing fascination with unidentified aerial phenomena, compiling data to identify the top UFO hotspots by state. Their research was based on reports from the National UFO Reporting Center, which has cataloged sightings dating back to 1995. Reports with unclear or overlapping locations were excluded from the analysis. Despite the U.S. government’s current stance that extraterrestrial life does not exist, public interest remains strong.
Stacker also noted that sightings tend to cluster in the western U.S., where dark-sky locations make it easier to spot unexplained objects. The National UFO Reporting Center relies on volunteers to help evaluate the credibility of each report.
