A dentist from Georgia is accused of killing his wife, their daughter, and himself in what authorities are calling a possible murder-suicide.
The bodies of James Choi, 52, Myoung Choi, 52, and their 15-year-old daughter Grace Choi were discovered at their home on Glen Castle Court in the St. Ives neighborhood of Johns Creek, Ga., around 4:00 p.m. local time on Sunday, Aug. 31, according to a statement from Johns Creek PD.
“Preliminary investigation indicates this was a domestic-related murder-suicide,” the statement said. “The suspect in this case is believed to be James Choi.”
Authorities confirmed that James Choi was the husband of Myoung Choi, and Grace was their daughter.
Out of respect for the victims’ family and the ongoing investigation, officials have not released any further information.
“This tragic incident has deeply affected not only the family and neighbors, but our entire community,” said Johns Creek Police Chief Mark J. Mitchell. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to those impacted and ask that the community keep them in their thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.”
James worked as a dentist at Highland Dental in Suwanee, Ga. PEOPLE reached out to Highland Dental for comment, but they did not immediately respond.
Grace was a sophomore at Mount Pisgah Christian School.
“We are heartbroken and devastated to confirm the untimely death of one of our treasured and beloved students, sophomore Grace Choi,” the school wrote on Facebook.
They added, “We wish to express our deepest condolences and our heartfelt love, support, and prayers to Grace’s extended family, friends, and everyone who is grieving with our school community.”
The post concluded with the Bible verse Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
