A wedding nearly spiraled into disaster — until one guest stepped up and took control.
On Reddit’s “Wedding Shaming” forum, a maid of honor described how her boyfriend rescued her friend’s poorly planned wedding from complete collapse. The post detailed the bride’s chaotic approach to planning and how the boyfriend’s calm intervention saved the day.
“Planning started fine, but slowly devolved into chaos,” the maid of honor began.
The bride, a close friend of 23 years, was described as “extremely particular” yet “straight up cheap.” Though she had expensive taste, she refused to spend money on quality items, dismissing everything within her budget as “hideous.” She also refused to serve a meal, insisting that 250 guests would be content with only sheet cake and cheesecake. Invitations, meanwhile, went out just three weeks before the wedding.
Her constant complaints about expenses eventually pushed the maid of honor to step back from planning — though she still hosted the bridal shower and offered to help the day before the wedding, a decision she would soon regret.

The morning before the ceremony, the maid of honor and her boyfriend ended up setting up tables and chairs alone for hours when other volunteers failed to show. The bride darted around in a panic, constantly changing her mind about the layout, while the groom stood by doing nothing. Finally, the boyfriend made an executive decision about the arrangement.
But the chaos didn’t end there. The bride had done virtually no preparation, leaving the couple to assemble all the last-minute decorations, which she had bought from Dollar Store and Shein. They also had to make emergency runs to Costco for cheesecakes and to a distant bakery for the wedding cake. Worse yet, the flowers hadn’t been purchased or arranged.
The maid of honor’s boyfriend took charge again — buying all the flowers and cheesecakes with his own money (the bride “claims she will repay” him) and spending hours crafting beautiful bouquets. Together, they also cut and plated desserts, assembled decorations, and set up backdrops while the bride “freaked out around us.”
Despite their efforts, the bride didn’t help and didn’t even provide lunch. After the rehearsal dinner, the maid of honor stayed up until 1 a.m. ironing linens and steaming dresses while the bride watched. “I broke down crying,” she wrote.

The next morning, though not invited to the ceremony due to differing religious beliefs, the maid of honor still drove the bride to church after she forgot her bouquet. Then, she and her boyfriend were instructed to return early to the reception to finish setup — managing lighting, dessert service, and drinks using their own serveware.
The bride showed up an hour late after her photo session, having also forgotten the rings and guest book. Meanwhile, the maid of honor tried to entertain frustrated guests.
“The reception was basically me, my boyfriend, and two of our kids acting as unpaid cater waiters,” she wrote.
Afterward, the “entitled” bride planned not to share leftover food with anyone, even though her friends had built and cleaned the entire reception themselves. The exh
