President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump appeared deep in conversation as Marine One touched down in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday night.
Sky News captured the couple seated across from each other aboard the president’s helicopter, returning to the White House South Lawn after their Sept. 23 visit to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.
In the video, Melania, 55, can be seen shaking her head and gesturing toward Donald, 79, before he responds with a pointed finger. After their discussion, the couple exited the helicopter and walked hand-in-hand across the South Lawn, with the president acknowledging reporters along the way.
The New York visit included a few tense moments. Before Donald’s address at the U.N., he and Melania encountered a frozen escalator, forcing them to climb the steps manually—a scenario that conservative media outlets quickly labeled as “sabotage,” with Fox News’ Jesse Watters suggesting the U.N. building be destroyed for making the president look bad.

A U.N. spokesperson later clarified that a videographer from the American delegation had accidentally triggered the escalator’s stop mechanism.
Shortly after navigating the escalator, the president’s teleprompter malfunctioned just as he was preparing to address world leaders, prompting a brief 15-second pause while he mocked the staffer responsible.
“I can only say that whoever’s operating this teleprompter is in big trouble,” he remarked.
The president’s subsequent address sparked strong reactions. He criticized fellow world leaders on immigration, declaring it “time to end the failed experiment of open borders.”
“I’m really good at this stuff,” Donald stated. “Your countries are going to hell.” He specifically challenged European leaders, accusing them of accepting immigrants merely “to be nice.”

“You want to be politically correct, and you’re destroying your heritage,” he warned. “If you don’t stop people that you’ve never seen before, that you have nothing in common with, your country is going to fail.”
Donald also used part of his speech to question the efficacy of the U.N. itself, convening for its 80th session.
“What is the point of the United Nations? You do nothing to support the end of war, other than write a pathetic letter or two, which does nothing,” he said. “Empty words don’t solve wars… A bad escalator and a bad teleprompter is all I got from the United Nations.”
Meanwhile, Melania leveraged the U.N. visit to launch her own initiative, “Fostering the Future Together,” during an event with other spouses of world leaders. The project aims to create “a global coalition of nations committed to enhancing the well-being of children through the promotion of education, innovation, and technology,” with the first meeting expected at the White House in early 2026.

The Trumps’ Marine One conversation comes four months after Donald offered lighthearted advice to French President Emmanuel Macron on keeping private moments discreet. On May 25, the Macrons went viral when Melania appeared to lightly push Emmanuel in the face before exiting a plane in Vietnam. Though Emmanuel looked surprised, he quickly composed himself, and the couple continued down the steps together.
The French president later explained they were “just joking about as we do,” but reporters still asked Donald for his advice during an Oval Office press conference days later. “Make sure the door remains closed,” he quipped, referencing the captured moment.
