Donald and Melania Trump spent the winter holidays at Mar-a-Lago, marking Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve with upscale dinners and glittering gatherings inside the private Palm Beach club.
At each event, 19-year-old Barron Trump — the only child Donald shares with Melania — was seen arriving with his parents. In videos and photos posted by attendees, he appeared composed and reserved. He did not appear in official event images distributed by major photo agencies such as Getty Images or The Associated Press.
Multiple sources familiar with the holiday events deny online rumors that Mar-a-Lago threatened to revoke memberships of guests who photographed Barron. Instead, those who attend the club’s holiday parties describe an unspoken etiquette when it comes to the family’s most private member.
“It’s very understood that guests don’t bother Barron or anyone around him,” one attendee says.
As for this year, widely circulated footage showing Barron arriving with his parents for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner — and standing beside them as they danced on New Year’s Eve — reportedly did not lead to conflict.

“Melania definitely protects her son against anyone taking videos or shots of him that would put him at a disadvantage or portray him in a bad way,” a political source says. “She would put her foot down if necessary but nothing stressful like that has happened.”
The source adds that the club often hosts guests and extended family during the holidays and other special occasions, and if someone crosses a line, the response is typically low-key.
“If something happened with one of them, they would quietly be told to stop shooting photos or videos,” the source says. “Not threatened.”
Another source echoes that sentiment, saying Melania is highly protective of her son, but nothing like the rumored crackdown occurred during the holiday stretch.
A spokesperson for Melania did not respond to a request for comment.
A Mar-a-Lago source says Barron stayed close to his family during the season while his parents handled social obligations at the club.

“He is quiet and reserved when spotted in public, not outgoing, but totally in control,” the source says. “He is more at ease when he’s with his family. He doesn’t smile a lot. He’s just not a social butterfly.”
The source adds that Melania values having her son nearby and considers him a central part of her life: “She loves having him around.”
Another source describes Melania as upbeat during the holidays, noting she enjoys being at her Mar-a-Lago home and is looking forward to a documentary set to air in the coming weeks.
During the New Year’s Eve celebration — one of the club’s signature annual events — she appeared relaxed and cheerful, smiling during the entertainment and sharing a midnight moment with her husband, whom one insider described as “tired.”
Melania’s former chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham, recently told Daily Mail that despite a viral 2020 audio clip in which Melania was heard complaining about Christmas decorations, the former first lady is “not a Grinch” in real life.
“She loves the holiday and she loves the events that have to do with children,” Grisham said. “She puts a lot of time and attention to detail into the decorations and what not.”
