President Donald Trump says White House physicians have declared him in “perfect health,” adding that he once again achieved a perfect score on a cognitive examination.
In a post on Truth Social on Friday, Trump wrote that doctors reported he was in “PERFECT HEALTH” and that he “ACED” his cognitive test for the third consecutive time. He added that no previous president or vice president had been willing to take such an exam.
Trump also argued that cognitive testing should be mandatory for anyone running for president or vice president, saying the country should not be led by “stupid or incompetent people.”
The remarks come amid ongoing public discussion about Trump’s health during his second term. Online speculation intensified last year after photos circulated showing bruising and discoloration on his hands. Trump was also 78 when he was sworn in for his second term in January 2025, making him the oldest person to be inaugurated as U.S. president.
Addressing the bruising in an interview with The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, Trump attributed it to a long-standing aspirin regimen he has followed for about 25 years. He said he was hesitant to lower the dose, explaining that he did not want “thick blood pouring through my heart.”
Trump also acknowledged using makeup to cover minor cuts, including one caused by a ring worn by Attorney General Pam Bondi during a high-five at the 2024 Republican National Convention. He described the injury as a “slight little cut” and said makeup was easy to apply.
He further rejected claims that he falls asleep during public events, suggesting that photos showing him with his eyes closed often capture him mid-blink.
In December, the White House released details about a scan Trump underwent in October, describing the results as “perfectly normal.” Trump later clarified that the test was not an MRI but a less extensive scan. His physician, Sean Barbabella, said it was a CT scan conducted to rule out cardiovascular issues.
Earlier, in July, the White House disclosed that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common and non-life-threatening condition that affects blood flow in the legs. His doctor characterized the condition as benign.
Trump has previously pushed back strongly against suggestions that his energy or health are declining. In a November Truth Social post, he criticized media coverage questioning his stamina and reiterated that he had recently passed both a physical exam and a comprehensive cognitive test with top results.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has also defended the president’s work ethic, previously saying that Trump works around the clock, seven days a week, on behalf of the country.
