Donald Trump is testing out a new nickname for his supporters — and once more hinting at a third presidential run, even though the U.S. Constitution bars him from serving more than two terms.
On Saturday, Nov. 29, the 79-year-old president shared an AI-generated image of himself on Truth Social holding a campaign-style sign that read, “TRUMP 2028, YES!”
He captioned the post with a single word: “TRUMPLICANS!”
That came just days after he mused about a “new word” for his loyalists in an earlier Truth Social post on Wednesday, Nov. 26.

“There is a new word for a TRUMP REPUBLICAN, which is almost everyone (GREAT POLICY IS THE KEY!),” he wrote. “It is, TEPUBLICAN??? Or, TPUBLICAN???”
Trump’s latest nod toward a hypothetical 2028 bid is one in a series of public comments he has made about the idea, despite the presidential term limits set by the 22nd Amendment.
While he cannot legally seek a third term, he has previously suggested there might be “methods” around the restriction and has even sold “Trump 2028” hats as campaign-style merchandise.
Asked directly about the possibility of a third term during a phone interview with NBC News in March, Trump said, “A lot of people want me to do it.”
“But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration,” he added, later continuing, “I’m not joking. But I’m not — it is far too early to think about it.”

More recently, he appeared to step back from that idea and acknowledge the legal limit.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One in South Korea on Oct. 29, he pointed to the U.S. Constitution and said it was “pretty clear” he would not be able to mount a third campaign for the office, according to reports at the time.
“I’m not allowed to run. It’s too bad,” he told reporters.
Trump then cited the 22nd Amendment, which states: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.”
“Based on what I read, I guess I’m not allowed to run,” he said. “So we’ll see what happens.”
