The House Oversight Committee recently released an extensive set of documents from the estate of the late Jeffrey Epstein. President Donald Trump — whose name appears multiple times in the files — is now facing renewed attention over his past association with Epstein.

While speaking aboard Air Force One on Friday, Nov. 14, Trump, 79, said he “doesn’t care” if further Epstein-related materials are made public, according to video shared by the White House.

“You have to go into Epstein’s friends,” he said, pointing to Reid Hoffman and former President Bill Clinton — but notably not mentioning his own past ties.

Trump previously singled out the LinkedIn co-founder, 58, and the 42nd president, 79, when calling on federal investigators to take action after lawmakers disclosed more than 20,000 pages of documents earlier in the week.

In a lengthy Truth Social post on Nov. 14, Trump dismissed the files as a “hoax” and attempted to distance himself from the case altogether.

He further accused Democrats of using emails referencing him as a distraction from the federal government’s reopening following a historic shutdown. Trump added that he has directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to have the Justice Department investigate Epstein’s relationships with other high-profile figures and institutions, including Hoffman and Clinton.

Bondi, 59, later confirmed that an investigation is underway.

Among the documents released was a purported exchange from February 2017 in which Epstein allegedly labeled Trump “dangerous.” In a message reportedly sent to former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers — less than a month after Trump’s first inauguration — Epstein wrote, according to ABC News: “Recall ive told you,, — i have met some very bad people ,, none as bad as trump. not one decent cell in his body.. so yes- dangerous.”

The White House has pushed back on the significance of that correspondence. Spokesperson Abigail Jackson argued that Democrats are attempting to divert attention from the reopening of the government. In a Nov. 13 statement, she said, “These emails prove literally nothing. Liberal outlets are desperately trying to use this Democrat distraction to talk about anything other than Democrats getting utterly defeated by President Trump in the shutdown fight.” She added that the administration will stay focused on its agenda, including “Making America Affordable Again.”

Epstein died by suicide in August 2019 at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York. Before his death, he pleaded not guilty to charges of s** trafficking minors and conspiracy to commit s** trafficking.

The newly released files contain additional information tied to Epstein’s activities. Trump had previously campaigned on making the documents public — before later changing course.
