There is a fake video going around on social media that shows President Donald Trump falling in the grass. But this video isn’t real.
On August 10, someone posted a blurry picture of Trump lying on the grass, making it look like he had just fallen. The post got 1.5 million views by August 11. In the bottom left corner of the picture, it says “Trump is in the Epstein files.” Some people even used a program called Grok and artificial intelligence (AI) to turn the picture into a video showing Trump crawling on the grass, but those videos are fake too.
Fake pictures and videos made with AI have caused false rumors about Trump many times during his second time as president. Trump himself has also shared some fake AI images, like a video showing former President Barack Obama getting arrested and a picture of Trump dressed as the Pope.
Here’s What Actually Happened
Even though the new videos are fake, there was a real moment earlier this year when Trump stumbled while going up the stairs of Air Force One, the presidential plane. This happened on June 8, when Trump was leaving Morristown, New Jersey, to go to Camp David. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was with him and also seemed to trip on the stairs.
For comparison, on March 19, 2021, former President Joe Biden fell while climbing the same stairs. His press secretary said the fall was caused by the wind.
During the last election, Trump and his supporters showed Biden’s fall many times in campaign ads, suggesting Biden was not fit to be president again.
Both Trump and Biden are the oldest presidents ever sworn into office.
